Just got back from my St Malo trip! We had an absoultely fantastic time - I was hoping to post some photos on here for you all to see, but I'm an LJ retard and have failed!! Maybe next time.
It didn't look like too promising a start when Nic forgot to pick me up so we could go to the ferry port! But, his mum saved the day and dropped us to the port just in time. We had some yummy cocktails on board, complete with marzipan apple!
It was very, VERY cold when we first arrived. We dumped our stuff at the hotel and routed through our luggage to find as many warm things as we could and layered up. NOT the weather I was expecting :-( But it did prove decidedly good weather to go strolling down on the beach - the air was really fresh and I think the cold somehow made it more enjoyable!
The next day THE WEATHER IMPROVED MASSIVELY and we went on a long stroll down the entire length of the resort - I think we walked about 6 miles! But on our way we met our good friend Monsieur Chat, a charming local kitty.
AND WE FOUND A DEAD JELLYFISH. I nearly stepped on it, then we stood and looked at it for aaaaages. I poked it with my toe and it was really squishy.
Walking back through the town I found what I think is the best invention ever. It's a condom machine outside a chemist!! In case of an out-of-hours emergency. Only on the continent, ay?
Back in the town we decided to take a ride on what I would call a "Dotto Train", basically one of those little seaside ride along ones. It took us on a tour showing us all the main sites of the history of St Malo. After the tour we went for a stroll around to look at some of the places in more detail. This train pleased me very much.
On our last full day we went to AN AQUARIUM. Anyone who knows me will know about my massive, unprecedented fish phobia, so I was more than a little apprehensive about going in. I had only two panic attacks (niiiiiiice) about a Moray Eel and an Ocutpus. But then I fell in love with a turtle in a big like 360 degree tank. After going on a mysterious Submarine Ride we went to the gift shop. Little to my knowledge Nicholas bought me my very own turtle! I named him Pierre.
We also went to castle / museumy thing. All the exhibits in the museum were labelled in French, and with neither of us being particularly good French speakers this was rather challenging. After a while we just looked at stuff, then went up on to the castle. IT WAS FUCKING HIGH. I nearly shat myself :-)
I had a throroughly fantastic time and I can't wait for my next holiday! That was mine and Nic's first holiday with JUST US and it went sooooooo well! I love him so much :-)
CIAO... or should I say Au Revoir?
